They definitely seem to be popular, so ought to remain available. My second most favourite read of Shannon Hale's has become Book of a Thousand Days (sort of an Asian version of a Rapunzel situation, almost).
One fantasy that is definitely set in the Swiss alps is Diane Duane's A Wind from the South (http://raetiantales.blogspot.com/) - but I haven't read it yet. Available via Lulu in print and as an ebook otherwise. Just in case you were looking for fantasy based on our part of Europe in general.
I love book enabling/book pushing if people are happy with their choices ^^, so you are very welcome.
